BROWN BAG GOLF
PERFORMANCE TRAINING

If you want to be a more consistent golfer Brown Bag Golf is just what you’ve been looking for. Brown Bag Golf is designed to improve your results, not just your swing. It’s going to help you make more consistent contact, hit more fairways, reach more greens, and have fewer putts. And since that’s pretty much the secret to golf, it’s going to help you shoot lower scores with a lot less stress. It will make your range time a lot more efficient and a lot more fun, too!

Brown Bag Golf is a series of 28 lessons that each week features one of the five most important skill areas in golf – Driving, Putting, Greenside, Scoring Wedges, and Long Approach shots – paired with one of the prime metric measurements – Center Contact, Directional Accuracy, Distance Control, and Shape Consistency – within a structured practice session where you measure your results and then train to improve them.

Performance-Based Practice

What makes Brown Bag Golf unique is the focus on performance-based practice. Performance-based practice is about measuring results. It’s about keeping stats – while practicing on the range – on things like how many fairways or greens you hit, how close you can hit chip and pitch shots, and how many putts you can make.

Performance-based practice is cutting edge training, adapted from Olympic training methods and Professional Sports Teams models, and Eric Jones is a PGA leader in the field of golf performance-based practice.

You need to know what to work on and what to measure. Brown Bag Golf will define for you exactly which shots to work on as well as provide a system for assessing your performance levels and measuring your progress.

What’s really exciting, though, is every time you level-up your performance on the range you’ll see an immediate improvement when you play on the course. For example, if you level-up your driver accuracy numbers on the range from a 5 to a 7, you’ll see an immediate improvement in the numbers of fairways you hit when you play, and your scores will improve accordingly.

How the Course Works

Each week you’ll get a new video lesson. Each lesson will address one of the five most important skill areas in golf:

  1. Driving
  2. Putting
  3. Greenside Chips and Pitch Shots
  4. Scoring Wedges from 75-125 Yards
  5. Long Approach Shots from 150 to 180+ Yards

Each lesson will also specify one of the four prime metrics you’ll use to measure your results:

  1. Center Contact
  2. Directional Accuracy
  3. Distance Control
  4. Shape Consistency

Each lesson then combines one shot area with one measurement metric to work on for the week. You’ll use these metrics to set, measure, and monitor your performance levels and progress. At the beginning of the week you’ll set an initial baseline performance level with one shot and one performance metric. Then you’ll work through successive 5-ball or 10-ball sets to “level-up” your performance metrics. Your goal will be to reach a higher performance level by the end of the week.

Each lesson is designed to take just 30 to 40 minutes per practice session. You’ll want to plan on three to six practice sessions per week. If you have an hour or two to practice you can begin to stack different shot types and metrics into a single session once you have cycled through all the shots the first five weeks.

Who Should Take This Course?

  • If you’ve reached at least an intermediate or better level of play you should take this course because performance-based practice should be integrated into every one of your range session and you need to know how to do it correctly.
  • If you don’t practice because you don’t know what to practice or are afraid of practicing the wrong things you should take this course because it will tell you exactly what to work on and how.
  • If you think practicing is hard or boring you should take this course because performance-based practice is a faster, easier, and much more enjoyable way to improve.
  • If you don’t have much time to practice you need this course because all the lessons can be completed in just 30 to 40 minutes, and most of us can find the time a few days a week – even if it is on your lunch hour.
  • If you are frustrated by quick tips and instant fixes then you should take this course because the progress you make will be a permanent improvement to you game.
  • If you are not getting better as quickly as you’d like and you’d rather do something other than overhaul your swing (again), take this course because you don’t need a better swing. You need better results.

Don’t be surprised if your entire outlook on practice changes once you get started with the course. Nearly all our students tell us that performance practice is so much more enjoyable than their old way of practice that they start to find their time on the range to be equally as rewarding (albeit in a different way) as playing.

COURSE OUTLINE

After each 5-lesson rotation there is a 1-week break to catch up or get in some supplemental practice (Lessons 6, 12, 18, and 24)

TESTIMONIALS

iGolfU

“I just wanted to follow up with you regarding my progress while using your program. After just 3 months I am seeing a lot of new and exciting things happening to my golf swing. I find that I am hitting all of my clubs longer and more squarely than ever before. Every shot I hit now feels like it is hitting the sweet spot and is going very straight. My club head speed use to be about 90 mph now my club head speed is on average 110 mph. The main key for me was increasing my hip speed and reducing my grip pressure. My old swing was very arm dependent and now it feels like I can swing much faster with a lot less effort. Thank you again for your great series.”

“Eric, After several weeks of study and practice on the first section of BLAST the results have been OUTSTANDING! At age 73 my driver length ranged between 175 yards and 210 yards. Now with some extensive training from you the distances are ranging from 220 yards to 255 yards. The 255 yd. distance was achieved after working on the BALANCE, LEVERAGE & ARC WIDTH drills. Thank you for your help. I almost resigned myself to play from the seniors tee or give up golf!”

Hi Eric,
“I ordered your book and DVD a few weeks ago and I’m getting a lot out of it! I’m going very slowly, but thoroughly. Thanks very much for writing it. I’ve read tons of golf books, but no one has ever put as much emphasis on balance and FEELING what the body is doing during the swing. The drills bypass the intellect and force the body to “get it” directly.”

Hi Eric,
“I wanted to send you a big thanks to your 5 Keys to Distance program. It has done two very important things with my golf. The first is that it has increased my ball flight carry by 10% in only a few weeks. And secondly and the most satisfying is it has given my whole golf game in particular my shots from scoring range (100 yards and closer to the green) pure control with my centered balance. So I can’t thank you enough. Your balance drills I do without fail each morning before breakfast, and it will continue to be my daily routine. Without Balance The Club Can Not Swing!! Kind regards.”

Where were you 20 years ago? It took me all these years to finally understand the dynamics of the executed, athletic swing. None of the “Pros” I’ve been to were ever able to explain it to me and I could never even break 90. But with your help I’m hitting with joy and the balls are flying. Thank you so much!

“Hi Eric, I recently purchased your instructional videos on Long Drive. They are the best golf teaching tool I have ever found. Your explanations of what to do and why are outstanding. I am a structural engineer and have a good understanding of the physics, mechanics and dynamics of the golf swing, so your explanations are especially meaningful to me. At age 63, I am still reasonably fit and strong, and your instructional videos have increased my average distance per club by 15 to 30 yards. Thanks for excellent videos!”
